Oscar Garza, Esq.,Interim Board Chair

Oscar Garza is the founding member of Oscar L. Garza & Associates, PC and the co-founder of Tax Advisory Services Group, LLC and the TASG Business Process Services, LLC. He graduated from the University of Texas San Antonio in 1981 where he received his BBA in accounting. He received his JD in 1988 from the University of Houston Law Center. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas. He is the founding Students Notes Editor of the ABA publication of the State and Local Tax Lawyer and was selected as a Texas Rising Star Super Lawyer in 2004 by Law & Politics magazine. Oscar has served on many boards in the Houston area including AAMA, Texas Annual Conference and United Methodist Church Foundation.

John Esquivel, Esq.

John retired from Shell Oil Company as its Chief Ethics & Compliance Office and Associate General Counsel. In addition to JFON Houston board, John serves on the board of The Houston Endowment, UnidosUS, Texas Methodist Foundation, YMCA of Greater Houston, as well as the Executive board of SMU Perkins School of Theology and the Quality Committee of Memorial Herman Health System. John serves as the Lay Leader for the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Ercan Baskurt

Ercan was born in Turkey. He studied B.Ed. in Physics and Mathematics teaching. He worked as a youth counselor at Yamanlar Private Schools for 6 years during college. He moved to Canada in 2000. He went through World Skills-Ottawa to receive another B.Ed. degree at Queen's University in Primary Junior. Ercan moved to Houston in 2015 where he became HR Director of Harmony Houston South District (12 campuses). He became involved with JFON Houston because of Immigration Attorney, Ruby Powers, who is a close friend. Ercan has had a great success story with his resettlement in Canada as an immigrant.  He enjoys helping Turkish immigrants by volunteering.

Holly Lewis Hudley, Secretary 

Holly is a native Houstonian with a long career in the arts, mental health, and education. She went to The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and after college ran a printmaking studio in the Heights. Simultaneously, she began teaching and wound up getting her degree in Human Development and Psycology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Since then, she has been an educator, counselor and consultant for educational programs interested in growing Social Emotional learning and restorative practices. In 2011, she worked on the design of her home and began a collaboration with McIntyre + Robinowitz doing interior design work on successive projects. Holly is interested in understanding systems, and how individuals work together to create healthy, inclusive communities. Having worked in the intersection of philanthropy and social/racial justice, she seeks to align funding with community driven ideas. She is also a mother of three boys, a hobbyist woodworker, an artist and writer, and a perpetual learner, currently working towards a PhD in Philosophy, Cosmology & Consciousness.

Margaret Rodriguez

Margaret joined the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA) in 2009 and currently serves as the Superintendent for the organization’s George I. Sanchez Charter Schools. Her degrees are from the University of Houston including a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision. She possesses State of Texas Superintendent, Principal and Lifetime Teaching Credentials.  She is a current board member of the American Leadership Forum (ALF) ALF Criminal Justice 2 Senior Fellow, a graduate of Houston A+ New Visions in Leadership Academy, UH Clearlake Latino and Latin American Studies (LLAS) Advisory Board Member, The Texas Public Charter School Association Member and Texas Education Agency Region 4 Education Center Superintendent Study Group Leader.
