Behind Every Policy Is a Human Life
Dear Friends and Supporters,
After more than a decade with Justice for all Immigrants, I have watched our community face many difficult policy changes, but this moment feels especially painful. Families are afraid that going to work, sending children to school, or attending a court hearing could lead to detention, while rapidly changing rules make it harder to know where to turn. Behind every policy decision is a person trying to keep their family together and build a stable future.
At the same time, resources meant to protect these families are disappearing. Federal funding for JFAI’s legal services for unaccompanied children ended on July 31, while other public funding has been delayed or placed on hold. For a small organization like ours, these are not simply numbers. They affect how many clients we can accept and whether a child or parent may have to face immigration proceedings without legal representation. Our team continues showing up, but the need is growing faster than our remaining resources.
